Our Library

At Canley Heights Public School our library plays an integral role in supporting our students' learning journey. It is a vibrant and engaging space where students and the school community come together, collaborate, research, learn, share, create, and relax. Every week, our students visit the library to read and borrow from our collections, as well as learn vital information skills that support the learning happening in the classroom.

Our extensive collections are curated in collaboration with students and staff to ensure that everyone has access to the best resources, enhancing their learning and fostering a lifelong love of reading. Our range is constantly growing and spans different genres, reading ability and interests to meet the needs of our school community. From traditional fairy tales, manga, to the latest non-fiction texts, there is something for everyone in the library.

Our library is equipped with the latest technology, which supports the curriculum and equips our students with the digital proficiencies and citizenship skills they need to succeed. Whether it is coding, 3D printing, video production, research or blogging, our students are given extensive opportunities in the library to explore, discover and use various digital tools to showcase and enhance their learning.

At Canley Heights Public School Library, we also provide opportunities for student leadership and mentorship through library monitors who play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the library and collection management. Library monitors are active advocates of reading and actively improve our library space for the whole school community.

Our library also leads a variety of exciting events to promote a culture of reading. Some of these events include Book Fairs, Character Parades, the Premier’s Reading Challenge, and author/illustrator visits.
